CANCUN, MEXICO, 3 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Telxius, a leading global connectivity provider, has built a carrier-neutral, AI-ready Landing Gateway & Edge Data Center in Cancun (Mexico). This new infrastructure will strengthen Mexico’s position as a strategic connectivity hub for the Caribbean, the U.S. and Latin America, with direct access to Tikal, the highest-capacity submarine cable between Puerto Barrios (Guatemala) and Boca Raton (U.S.).

Telxius’ Cancun Landing Gateway & Edge Data Center is directly integrated into the company’s global backbone, offering access to major digital hubs across the Americas and Europe. It serves as the landing point for the Tikal submarine cable, providing a key diverse route in the Caribbean, while simultaneously housing a state-of-the-art, edge data center.

Purpose-built to support data-intensive and latency-sensitive workloads, the new facility delivers Tier III standards with N+1/2N redundancy across critical power and cooling systems, and advanced physical and network security. Its carrier-neutral design enables customers to interconnect with multiple networks, cloud providers and digital platforms from Mexico, through a single infrastructure ecosystem. Together with its existing SAm-1 and PCCS infrastructure, Telxius’ Punta Cana Landing Gateway, and the upcoming Tikal and CELIA subsea cables, the new Cancun facility further strengthens Telxius’ network and position in the Caribbean.

Tikal is set to launch in the first half of 2027 with an estimated initial capacity of 380 Tbps on its main trunk. With a landing point at Telxius’ Cancun facility, Tikal delivers a key route to the U.S. with high levels of reliability and security. The Cancun facility also provides an alternative route to Santiago de Querétaro (Mexico), expanding Telxius’ presence across Mexico, while enhancing resilience and redundancy for customers.

The launch underscores Telxius’ commitment to strengthening digital infrastructure across Mexico, the Caribbean and the wider Americas, following its recent network expansion in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). Together, Tikal and Telxius’ Cancun Landing Gateway & Edge Data center, will provide a highly resilient, carrier-neutral platform for international traffic.
