MAREA, nominated for the best Subsea Cable Project of the Year in the Global Carrier Awards

MAREA, the submarine cable built in consortium by Telxius, Facebook and Microsoft, is among the 4 nominees for the best Subsea Cable Project of the Year in the Capacity Media Global Carrier Awards. A jury of experts in the sector will be responsible for clarifying which will be the best submarine project of 2018.

These awards are encompassed in one of the most important events of the year in the telecommunications sector: Capacity Europe, an unmissable date every year as it is one of the biggest and most important events in the wholesale sector. The winners of the awards will be announced on October 24 at a gala which will be attended by prominent figures from within the telecommunications industry.

MAREA, which has recently increased its capacity up to 200 Tbps from the initial 160 Tbps, is the highest-capacity submarine cable to ever cross the Atlantic and connects Virginia (USA) and Sopelana (Spain). It provides the lowest latency route between the United States and Southern Europe as well as a diverse path to network hubs in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. MAREA is set to boost Atlantic connections, providing ultrahigh transmission capacity that keeps growing.

MAREA along with BRUSA, the most recent Telxius cable of 11,000 km (Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza, San Juan, Virginia Beach), are the two highest capacity live submarine cables in the world.
