The Euskaltel Group connects its fibre network to the Telxius Derio Communications Hub

Derio, 11 May 2021. The Euskaltel Group, the leading telecommunications operator in northern Spain, connects its fibre network to the Telxius Derio Communications Hub, a carrier neutral telecommunications infrastructure with remarkable interconnection capacity located near Bilbao and just a few kilometers away from Marea’s submarine cable landing station. This agreement will allow the Euskaltel Group and its commercial brands, Euskaltel, R, Telecable and Virgin telco, to leverage interconnection-rich and transmission capabilities offered by the Derio Communications Hub, thus improving the connectivity options of its network.

The Derio Communications Hub is a carrier neutral facility with open architecture that guarantees that all carriers, hyperscalers and cloud and/or content providers benefit from its cutting-edge services and its interconnection-rich capacity. Derio features Tier III specifications and combines the functionalities of a cable landing station with those of an international PoP. Furthermore, the facility was designed using eco-friendly standards, runs on 100 percent renewable energywith free cooling and offers up to 4 MW of power capacity.
