
Brusa
With a capacity of 160 Tbps, Brusa offers the highest capacity available to date for the interconnection of the Americas. Brusa is a new, robust and very low latency route that, from the moment it began providing services in 2018, represents a significant step forward in the development of ultrahigh-speed broadband services, improving the reliability and overall performance of networks in Latin America.
The 11,000-km Brusa subsea cable system links Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Fortaleza (Brazil) and San Juan (Puerto Rico) with Virginia Beach (USA). It is the first submarine cable that establishes a direct connection between Brazil and the United States (Virginia Beach), and which also offers the lowest latency available. Its design is unique in order to minimize service disruption risks in the event of natural disasters.
The Virginia Beach Data Center, which serves as the landing point for the Marea and Dunant cables, has a direct backhaul to Ashburn — home to the world’s largest concentration of data centers — as well as to Richmond.
