Private Line

Our Private Line service provides SDH/SONET circuits throughout our fibre optic network. The service is auto-restorable or protected by automatic switching, and connects Latin America, the United States and Europe. To guarantee service provision in the shortest possible time the network maintains a unified structure on a regional and global scale, using highly reliable and operationally flexible SDH/SONET technology.

The service provides point-to-point solutions exactly where required allowing customers to focus on the core functions of their business. This is in contrast with solutions which require dedicated resources from the customer and involve network control, such as Wavelength services.

Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) and Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) transmission are standard synchronous optical signals for transporting digital information from E3/DS-3, STM-1/OC-3 to STM-64/OC – 192.

  • Private Line Backbone

Provides SDH/SONET circuits between its POPs, distributed via its fibre-optic network

Available Capacities:

STM-1/OC-3, STM-4/OC-12, STM-16/OC-48, STM-64(OC-192)

E3/DS-3 y E1/T1 after feasibility study

EoSDH from 155 Mbps to 1 Gbps, in Giga Ethernet interface.

  • Private Line City to City

Offers clients end-to-end connectivity through SDH/SONET circuits between Latin America, USA and Europe.

Private Line is made up of the following basic components:

  • Backbone Capacity SDH/SONET among Telxius Points of Presence with the main cities.
  • Network access (backhaul) that connects Telxius’ Points of Presence with Client’s Points of Presence.
  • Colocation: Space necessary for clients to install their transmission equipment in Telxius’ Points of Presence.

Sales modalities:

The options, for the two types of service are:

  • IRU (indefeasible Right of use)

IRU offers an effective method of securing a long term lease on a portion of Telxius’ network. The IRU is granted for 10 or 15 years.

  • Leasing

In order to serve those customers not willing to commit to long-term investments, Telxius also provides short-term arrangements. To meet their needs, Telxius offers capacity leases with terms ranging from 1,2,3,4 and 5 years. Furthermore, to increase the customer’s ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment, it also offers a Lease to Buy Option.

Price and Payment Terms

  • IRU (indefeasible Right of use)
  • Installation: Once upon the activation notice (NRC Non Recurring Charge)
  • IRU fee payment (advance payment only after activation).
  • O&M (Operation and Maintenance): Must be paid quarterly on an annual basis
  • Rental

–       Installation: Pay only after notification of activation (NRC Non recurring cost).

–       Pay monthly recurring fee (MRC Monthly Recurring Cost).


Service quality parameters on net:

  • Service Availability: 99.95% (between POP’s of Telxius)
  • Round trip delay: Example Boca Raton-Sao Paulo less than 110ms (round-trip time).
  • Troubleshooting: maximum 4 hours
  • Service Repair Times (Dry plant): 8 hours
  • Service Repair Times (Wet plant).: 15 hours
  • Installation Time: less than 30 days


  • Fulfilment of quality parameters according to the international recommendation of the ITU-G.826.
  • Protection of the service in Span or Ring according to the MS—Spring layout pursuant to international standards ITU-T G.841.
  • Compliance with international standards ITU-T G.703 and G.752 for electrical interfaces and with ITU-T G707 for optical interfaces.
  • EoSDH based multiplexing technique Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) in accordance with the international standard ITU-T G.7041.
  • Restoration: restoration of the Operator Client’s Network by connecting to the Telxius network
  • Access Network (*): Connects the Telxius’ Points of Presence with the main cities and the Clients’ Points of Presence
  • Co-location (*): provides space in the Telxius installations for clients that want to install their communications and network equipment in Telxius’ land station, or in the Points of presence (POPs).
  • Unified Management (*): Complete management of the client’s network, including equipment co-located in Telxius’ Installations.
